A year later, the Submariner water resistance was increased to 200 meters (660 ft) and equipped with more innovative technologies such as a glowing material coated on a small ring at the end of the hour hand. The hour and minute hands’ shape and size are distinguished and presented in different geometric shapes – triangles, circles, and rectangles, making the reading time clear. The dots, hour markers, and inverted triangular logos on the palms covered with glowing Chromalight material that emits long blue light in the dark.
